Since the late 1980s, the company has specialised in flower growing. In the eighties, the company was active in growing dried flowers. The demise of this cultivation was a reason to pick up on new
crops and arrange sales differently. Initially that was only done through the auction clock, now the company has its own sales channels.
Until 2011, Peony and Brassica were the most important flower products. Since 2012, the cooperation with son Martijn was established and working together, the collection has been expanded
with over 30 ha of Phlox, Delphinium and Sunflowers in particular, which means in 2019 our areal is 150 ha in the Netherlands and 10 ha in Spain, where Delphinium is grown. Maatschap Daling
believes that thinking a couple of years ahead is the best way to ensure a good future. In that way, you avoid missing new opportunities, or continuing with old crops for too long.
To realise this strategy, in June 2015, Daling started mechanisation of the processing process. An important reason for this is the improvement in quality this brings about. Through uniformity of
products, mechanisation helps us to respond even better to the wishes of the customer. We have invested in the Furora of Bercomex, and currently have three in operation.
Maatschap Daling from Smilde is the winner of the Enterprise Award Drenthe. This acknowledgment from LTO Noord and Rabobank Drenthe goes to the most innovative agricultural
entrepreneur in Drenthe for the year 2010. This award is confirmation that the chosen path is a well-considered one.
By participating in the ”Summerflowers” initiative, the company wants to show that it is aware of the necessity of good communication, needed to prevent there being supply and demand somewhere, of which neither party is aware.
