Since 1982, the Johan Oudshoorn nursery has been passionate about growing various species of summer flowers and in 1985 the company also started to grow Convallaria majalis in the pot. The nursery is now located at two premises, Nieuwe Wetering and Roelofarendsveen. Together, the nursery has over 2.2 ha. where the products are grown under the best possible climatic conditions. This means, growing under glass, in special foil greenhouses and on open field.
Outdoor growing in combination with the buildings means that we have been able to focus on having crops in production outside the regular flowering time. For example, our range includes a hanging Amaranthus in the period from mid-April to the end of November and we bring Brassica (Ornamental Cabbage) to the market as early as May-June. We also have a wide range of Monardas. Phlox is also one of our bigger crops. Take the Phlox Sweet Dance, which looms from August right through October and has a warm pink flower with a dark pink eye. It flowers in large plumes that rest at the top of healthy, firm to the touch leaves. This was added to our collection in 2014.
