In the early 1960s, Tinus van Tol started his business with vegetables, a few years later he switched to flowers. Since 1984, son Marcel van Tol joined the company and a few years later son Eric van Tol also. Gradually they have taken over the company and the brothers are working together to improve the company and products.
The company is two hectares in size, 90% is grown in rolling greenhouses.
With our rolling greenhouses we are able to market our production of summer flowers and forced shrubs a few weeks sooner or later. At both locations, Paradijsweg 7a, Ter Aar and Molenkade 11, Nieuwveen there are 2 rolling greenhouses of 800 m2 each. These four rolling greenhouses with a total of 3,200 m2 of glass can be moved over 20 roller compartments. This allows us to move the rolling greenhouses over 16,000 m2 of open ground.
We specialize in Snowball (Viburnum opulus ‘Roseum’), Campanula Glomerata, Alchemilla ‘Robustica’, Autumn Chrysanthemum and Skimmia ‘Rubinette’. The crops Snowball, Campanula Glomerata and Alchemilla first need the cold of winter to flourish. After this period of cold, the heat of the rolling greenhouse provides an early advance in relation to outdoor production. When growing Autumn Chrysanthemums, the branches are grown in the open air, which benefits the firmness. During the harvest, the rolling greenhouse minimizes the influence of the weather conditions on the quality. In winter, Skimmia is partly harvested under glass, allowing the harvest to continue in case of frost.
